OM
SRIMAD BHAGAVAD GEETA
SECTION 1 ITS ORIGIN & BACKGROUND
Geeta is, one of the most holy scriptures, and is song divine. It
emanated from the Lotus-lips of Lord Sri Krishna, who is an
incarnation of Vishnu, the Primordial Supreme God. Geeta was
preached, by Lord Sri Krishna, to Arjuna, the glorious Pandava
prince, at the battlefield of Kurukshetra, more than 5000 years ago.
There are 700 Slokas or verses, in the Bhagavad Geeta. Though the
advice, in the Bhagavad Geeta, was intended to save Arjuna, from his
state of despondency, it is designed, to be useful, to the entire
humanity. Arjuna was, in a great dilemma, as he had to fight
against, his close relatives, revered family elders and, his
teachers, who trained him from childhood, in all the arts and
sciences, vital for a Prince .Lord Sri Krishna explained to him, at
great length, to make him realize his duty, and fight the war as a
Kshatria, or a Warrior . The Lord taught the principle of Karma
yoga, which is doing all actions selflessly, without minding, for
the rewards… Another important message, conveyed in the Bhagavad
Geeta is, that all worldly events are preordained by the Cosmic
design, and every one is advised to act, in the world, by
considering himself, merely as an instrument in the hands, of the
Divine power. One should, totally eradicate, his egotistic attitude.
Arjuna was, totally transformed into a hero, and he became
victorious, with the grace of Lord Sri Krishna.
One cannot cope up, with all the problems of the present age,
without a superior power, energy, intelligence, knowledge, and
wisdom. Geeta can, surely fulfill, the need of the present times.

SECTION 2 SOME ESSENTIAL PRINCIPLES
In every one of us, there is a war going on, between our good and
evil tendencies. With the wisdom of Geeta, one can conquer, evil
tendencies, and accomplish control, over the mind, and the turbulent
senses. One can live, an efficient life, and achieve supreme
perfection. One can build, enormous inner strength, by conserving
energy, and avoiding dissipations through anxieties and worries. By
constant purification of, the body, mind, intellect and the senses,
one can achieve, great peace, happiness and bliss, in this life,
.and in the end, reach the supreme abode of God. One can get freedom
from the eternal cycle of births and deaths. Lord Sri Krishna
declares, that He, as Vishnu, the Primordial Supreme God, gave the
Geeta knowledge, to Sun God, at the beginning of creation. From the
Sun God, the knowledge passed on to Manu, and then to Ikshvaku. Thus handed down through hereditary process, the knowledge was known to Raja Rishis or Royal Sages, and
ultimately reached the common people, over several generations. But,
the knowledge was lost, through the long lapse of time. Geeta, does
not belong, to any one religion. It is a boon, to the entire
mankind. It shows the art of right living. The Geeta, is
incorporated, in the middle, of the great epic, Maha Bharata, by the
great Vyasa Muni, a poetic and intellectual genius.
Lord Sri Krishna, declares that:
Geeta is, His heart .
It is His supreme dwelling place.
He protects, the three worlds,
which are the Celestial, Earth and
the Nether Worlds, based
on Geeta wisdom.
Geeta is His knowledge Supreme.
It is the embodiment of Brahman,
the Supreme Soul.
This knowledge is Absolute,
Imperishable, & Eternal.
It is the essence of, His indefinable
state.
It comprises, of the three Vedas.
It is, all blissful.
It contains the knowledge of God -
realization.
Uttering Geeta, at the time of death,
one can attain his supreme goal.
Where, a Geeta scriptural book is kept, or where Geeta is chanted,
that place is, said to become sacred.
